So...here we are. We get a lot of questions as to where this all comes from. Here's the best answer I have. It's a love for music. I grew up listening to classic rock with my dad and Motown soul with my mom. I learned early the role music played in our lives. And, yes, a white kid from the whitest of neighborhoods fell in love with hiphop. I don't say that casually. Most people that actually know me know how non-casual that is. I went about two years of my life listening to nothing but Life After Death in my car. I listened to Illmatic every night as I went to bed. I worshipped Rakim's rhyme scheme, and went into old school online public forums to use it to battle rap. Weird? Absolutely. But that is where this comes from. It comes from the heart. From lyrics that move you. Sounds that change you. And songs that define your life. If we even move you with one of these songs it's ok with us. No matter where we go in life this is our path home. The music that made us who we are. Filthy.

Weekend Playlist
It's back. Still need to get back into the swing of things posting again, but by far our most popular feature back in the day was our playlist. Try to include some popular hits with some underground stuff and mix things up to just create a vibe. There's definitely some fairly hardcore hiphop mixed into some electronic tracks and some indie rap, but give it a chance. We will try to do these on a weekly basis with guest posters, throwback mixes, boat mixes, etc etc. Let us know what you think and what you want more of, but most of all? Stay filthy my friends.

Pusha T, Nigo - Hear Me Clearly (Official Music Video)
Pusha doing what Pusha does. Nobody spits crack music quite the way Pusha can.
Since his days in the Clipse with his brother Malice and their Pharrell laced
beats, to where he is now as President of Kanye's GOOD Music. He consistently
delivers bars. Not sure about his McDonald's fish filet diss track (long live
the filet) but can always count on King Push
Freddie Gibbs And Madlib: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Freddie just blessing these beats with El Michels Affair, a vintage funk and soul band based out of New York, behind him? Apparently Madlib demanded their presence. Incredible. The only thing we don't like is this ever ends.
Tyler, The Creator: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
A lot of Tyler's music is chaotic. From the rhymes to the samples. His mind works in a different dimension and he occasionally invites us to join him. He is unique and in this world is there anything better to be? Another guy we have been rocking with since the jump. This Tiny Desk is just a look inside his weird brain.
Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
We have been rocking with Anderson before he was winning grammies and we have the receipts. Such an original style and flow. We post a whole lot of hip-hop on here but so much of that music has it's roots entrenched in this type of soul. I personally grew up with my mom listening to Motown soul and jazz and my dad classic rock and oldies. Somehow that immersion developed into my own eccentric musical character. Hopefully you guys enjoy and maybe even expand your own musical horizons.
Mac Miller: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Anyone who has followed this blog over the years likely knows what a huge influence Mac was on everything we did. The OG Euphoria Fez with a catalog that rivals any rapper out there. The world was better with him here. Words would never do him or this justice.
Jon Batiste: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Some more Jon Batiste. Huge fan of all the Tiny Desk sets. Will post a couple of our favorites over the next few days.
An Evening With Silk Sonic
Fresh off the grammy dub. Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak's album. Little bit of an old school Motown meets 70s soul feel. Paak has Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, and Prince tatted on his chest. Pretty sure they channel them all throughout this nine track album.
Labels:
Anderson .Paak,
Bruno Mars,
Hip-Hop,
Silk Sonic
